Ocean Dreamer

Yesterday I got a much-needed haircut.  My typically short hair had been getting longer and longer over the past months as I debated what I wanted to do with it.  Well, yesterday, I’m happy to say, I cut it off – back to the length it has been for the past 7 years or so, and I am *so* happy about it.  I was getting tired of being read as straight by both straight and queer folks, so this will hopefully fix that.   Ordinarily I sort of dread getting my hair cut because I hate making small talk with people I don’t know, but this hairdresser was great – also queer – and we had plenty to talk about, especially with Pride coming up in Seattle this weekend.

I am really looking forward to all the festivities this weekend.  Tomorrow night’s the dyke march and parties, then the parade and festival Sunday and, to complete a hopefully wonderful weekend, The Indigo Girls are playing at Zoo Tunes Sunday night.  As I wrote here, they are one of my favorite bands – the music of our people, as my old boss used to say.    So, Happy Pride, everyone!
