I’d been in a bit of a funk today because of the incredibly messy state of my house and the prospect of dating as a single dyke mama (more on this later). As all who have lived with me can attest, I’m not the neatest person, and my house had sadly gotten to a state where I was seriously considering purchasing myself a cleaning chart – complete with stickers to mark my successes. Anyway, in the midst of this funk, I decided to take a break from studying, put on The Indigo Girls (which an old boss referred to as “the music of our people”), get past my aversion to the grand mess, and clean up a bit.

The transformation was amazing. Within five minutes, I was no longer in a funk, but rather dancing and singing along as I loaded the dishwasher. I love music that speaks to my soul, and the Indigo Girls definitely do. Now, I’m happy to report that my house is on its way to clean. My perspective on dating prospects sadly remains the same, though a sweet friend keeps reminding me that “single pregnant lesbians are hot!” After all, you get everything in one package, and don’t even have to pay for the sperm (which is *not* cheap, I might add). I appreciate the sentiment, though I’m not sure how many share it. But at least the house is clean.
