Anyone else have days where you get nothing done? I worked so hard getting all my coursework and other work done that I now have little energy to do anything other than watch the Olympics and read other blogs. (The positive here: I have found a bunch of new blogs that I like.)

I really need to get my house cleaned and get to work on my pre-fall-quarter coursework (yes, because it will be such an intense quarter, we are expected to do all the reading beforehand.) It would also be nice to put some work in on my little CafePress shop, so that it can help support me for the rest of my school career. However, except for one chapter in one book yesterday, I haven’t gotten any work done yesterday or (so far) today. Ugh. Perhaps my body needs this. But here is my question for you: how do you motivate yourself to do things you don’t really want to do (like cleaning)? A lot of times I start with lists, but this time can’t seem to motivate myself to even make a list.

Yesterday I got a much-needed haircut. My typically short hair had been getting longer and longer over the past months as I debated what I wanted to do with it. Well, yesterday, I’m happy to say, I cut it off – back to the length it has been for the past 7 years or so, and I am *so* happy about it. I was getting tired of being read as straight by both straight and queer folks, so this will hopefully fix that. Ordinarily I sort of dread getting my hair cut because I hate making small talk with people I don’t know, but this hairdresser was great – also queer – and we had plenty to talk about, especially with Pride coming up in Seattle this weekend.

I am really looking forward to all the festivities this weekend. Tomorrow night’s the dyke march and parties, then the parade and festival Sunday and, to complete a hopefully wonderful weekend, The Indigo Girls are playing at Zoo Tunes Sunday night. As I wrote here, they are one of my favorite bands – the music of our people, as my old boss used to say. So, Happy Pride, everyone!

In February I bought an exercise machine from Sharper Image. The plan was that I could work out easier at home than by going to the gym four times a week. Well, the thing has never been great, but I’ve made it work … until today – when it broke. Literally. The metal pieces that were glued together under one of the foot pedals *came apart.* This is not a weight issue – I don’t weigh *near* their weight limit for the machine. This is about crappy construction.

So I called today to return it and guess what I found out? Only one week after I bought the thing in February, they entered bankruptcy and their business was sold. Ugh. Which means that I most likely will not get any money back for this crap machine. (Thankfully it was only ~$150 instead of hundreds of dollars more as most exercise machines are – maybe that’s why it was not built properly. ;0 )

Anyway, thanks for reading my post-o-complaints. I promise not to write too many of these.

I have the oddest printer. A few weeks ago it stopped working. After consulting the troubleshooting guide and getting solutions like “plug in the printer” that were *not* helpful, I decided to just reinstall it. That worked fine for about a week, and then it failed on me again. Since I’ve had such a busy couple of weeks, I hadn’t gotten around to contacting their customer service to try to find another solution. Then, when I got home today and connected my laptop, the printer magically printed the two docs I had waiting in the queue. Bizarre, huh? And then, as soon as it finished printing those docs, guess what – it simply stopped working again. WTF? For now, I just reinstalled the software again. We’ll see if it works for longer this time.

In other news, I’m sending positive TTC-energy to C & H at Now That You Know, who seem to be having the same messed-up cycle issues that I’ve been having.
