My Journey So Far
For those of you who have just stumbled upon my blog, here is a little summary of my journey so far, to catch you up to speed.
Years ago, I was looking into adoption as a single parent. As a kid, I had always envisioned myself as a single parent, so it wasn’t something I thought much about at the time. Then I met someone I thought could be a lifelong partner (boy, was I ever wrong!) and put the adoption plans on hold. While my ex and I were together, we began looking at getting pregnant. As I’ve gotten older, having a biological child has become more important to me, especially because my dad died when I was a kid. So when my ex and I broke up, it was a pretty easy step for me to move on to trying to get pregnant on my own.
Here’s a short list of what I’ve done so far
April 2008: started this blog!
May 2008: 1st insem, ICI at home, BFN
June 2008: ICI at home, BFN
July 2008: ICI at home, BFP but a chemical pregnancy
August – October 2008: No TTC while I focused on school (and that way didn’t end up giving birth mid-school-year)
November 2008: ICI at home, BFN
December 2008: ICI at home, BFN after a *long* 42-day cycle
February 2009: first IUI, at gyno’s office, BFN
March 2009: second IUI, at gyno’s office, BFN; initial testing shows no reason for infertility.
May – June 2009: didn’t TTC – focused on grad school and had a nice break from everything TTC
July 2009: switched to fertility clinic, first medicated cycle (femara), IUI, BFN
August – November 2009: femara + IUI, BFNs
January – February 2010: double dose femara + HCG trigger shot + IUIs, BFNs
March 2010: double dose femara + HCG trigger shot + IUI + ICI at home, BFNs
April 2010: getting ready for IVF. Actual IVF will likely be in June.
